13 Days Desert & Delta - Accommodated (NM09)

Countries Visited: Namibia, Botswana & Zimbabwe.

On our camping tours you will be staying in two-man dome tents. We supply a mattress and you supply your own sleeping bag. The accommodated tours stay in traditional huts, permanent tented camps and hostel-style rooms.

Included are three hearty meals a day, (unless otherwise specified). Vegetarians are easily catered for and they're always impressed by our varied menu. Our guides can produce miracles on a camp-stove. Special dietary requirements can be catered for, but only by special request. In East Africa it is more difficult to cater to certain requirements.

This day is left free for you to explore the town or try one of the many adventure activities. Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights etc.

Heading inland, we drive north towards Kamanjab where we meet with the local people from this area. The Himba are a pastoral people and predominantly breed cattle or goats. Encountering a totally different way of life can be a moving experience for many people.

After an early breakfast we enter Etosha NP for some superb game viewing. We will visit water -holes to wait for the animals to come and drink as well as explore as much as we can of the NP. It may not always be possible to overnight in the Park.

On our way to Namibia's capital city we stop at a craft market so you can purchase some authentic African creations. Windhoek is situated at almost the ex act centre of Namibia. In the afternoon we'll take you on a short tour of the city.

We take a scenic drive to the Buitepos border, where we enter Botswana. Once at the lodge we meet with a local Bushman community and see some traditional Tribal Dancing.

Maun is well known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We spend one night in this remote town and prepare for this excursion. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to Gunn's Camp for the next 2 nights. Animals are often spotted from the lodge, but we also take a nature walk and, if the water level allows, a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip.

A second scenic air -transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Gweta where our evening accommodation is unique, and a little quirky.

We drive north to Kasane, where we stay on the bank of the Chobe River. We take an afternoon river cruise in order to visit Chobe NP's animals as they come down to the river to drink.

After crossing into Zimbabwe we have a short briefing on all the activities available here. Then we enter the much anticipated Victoria Falls NP where we will experience the might of the great Zambezi River. The popular optional sunset cruise includes dinner and drinks. Optional Activities: Chobe Game Drive, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, Dinner in local restaurant.

Most people will spend the day white water rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion and many more.

Local Payment:

The local payment is a USD cash portion of the tour payment that needs to be paid directly to your guide in Africa. This payment covers fluctuating expenses such as flights, National Park fees, entrance fees ect & also ensures that we have a reliable amount of hard currency on each tour. Our local payment is not a kitty, your food & accommodationare included in the tour price. All local payment amounts are subject to change without notice. Changes are very rare & are normally due to a sudden or unexpected price increase by a local service provider or National Park.

Single Supplement:

All of our tours are priced on twin share accommodation. The single supplement is not compulsory on our camping tours but if you want your own tent you need to pay the single supplement. If you are booking one of our accommodation tours alone you have to pay the single supplement. There are a maximum of 4 single supplements available on all tours.

Health:

All people who join an adventure tour need to be in good health. Medical facilities are not always available. If you have a specific medical condition it is compulsary for you to advise us before departure. Malaria is a real concern in many areas of Africa, especially during the rainy season. Our advice is simple, prevent getting bitten by using an insect repellent and use an effective prophylactic. Speak to your doctor before selecting your Malaria medication. Please ensure you have the relevant vaccinations. Proof of innoculation is required on certain tours.
