Nestled in privacy within Botswana's Okavango Delta and situated just off the north-western tip of Chiefs Island, is the secret paradise of Mombo. The Mombo Camp is buried deep within the Moremi Game Reserve, on a scenic island.
The island is surrounded by open floodplains and the camp itself is largely built in and around the shade of some large Mangosteen, Ebony and Fig trees. Also situated on Mombo Island is an extension of the Mombo Camp called Little Mombo. The Mombo Camp is regarded by many as the best safari camp in the world, and was designed with the aim of providing guests with absolute luxury whilst also maintaining an atmosphere of Africa’s finest classic tented safari camps.
Accommodation at the Mombo Camp consists of:
9 luxuriously furnished tents on the main campsite that are raised off the ground. For guests choosing to stay at Little Mombo, there are 3 tented guest rooms that are conveniently situated a distance away from the main camp to provide a larger degree of privacy. Accommodation at the camp has been described by guests as the most luxurious to be found throughout Africa. Each room is beautifully designed, providing guests with private balconies with gorgeous views of their surroundings, en-suite bathrooms with showers as well as an outdoor shower, and huge four poster beds. The attention to detail in each room is exemplary. This is evident by the care and perfection taken in every piece of furniture, including lampshades around a mahogany writing desk and the four poster beds. The beds are dressed with crisp white linen and duck down pillows. Each en-suite comes with his and hers washbasins, a flush toilet, full length mirrors and an array of organic bath salts and lotions that compliment the constantly fresh and fluffy bath towels.
The dining area of mombo overlooks the widest part of the floodplain which is often visited by a number of game and wildlife. Dining at Mombo is one of the camps priorities and is certainly something that they excel at. Guests are provided with gourmet cuisine of the utmost standards. The living room area is furnished with comfortable, over-sized leather sofa’s which provides the perfect relaxation area for guests. For those guests looking to cool off and enjoy a delicious cocktail or refreshment, the plunge pool that is situated to the left of the main area is an ideal location for just that.
The camp offers abundant big game viewing. The highlight is the concentration of the big cats, and lion sightings are quite common.
